Environment Pillar

At Diltex brands

We seek to contribute to the conservation and promotion of caring for the environment.

That is why today we have one of the most integrated manufacturing processes in the world with a high focus on ecological care, through which we manufacture the vast majority of the products that we sell under our brands.

This ecological approach in all the processes of the Textile-Clothing chain is important, however, the fabric manufacturing process is the most relevant, that is why we decided to affiliate our plant Tizayuca Textil Vuva SA de CV to the HIGG INDEX, developed by SAC (Sustainable Apparel Coalition), which is the most important institution in the world in our industry to which brands and textile manufacturing plants with a global presence are affiliated.

Through diagnosis FEM of HIGG INDEX the environmental impact of our textile process is measured in the following factors:

  • Environmental management system
  • Water
  • Waste
  • Sewage water
  • Air
  • Chemical products
  • Energy

The first result obtained from the 2019 operation was 42.31 points, which compared to the average result obtained by 11,751 textile plants in the world is above the global average of 40.52 points. In 2020 our result was 69 points, again exceeding the global average.

We are committed to raising this result, which although it is higher than the world average, we are sure that we will be able to take it to the upper quartile of 85 before 2025, this because our current scores in Water, Wastewater and Energy are already below above the upper quartile.

The favorable results in the evaluation of the Higg Indicator for 2020 originated from several initiatives, among which the following stand out:

  • Creation of the Environmental Management System, where the strategy was defined, the management committee was formed and the system of indicators was established, through which we monitor the results.
  • The hazardous and special handling waste minimization program was carried out.
  • Definition of the strategy on the control, storage and selection of chemical products and colorants.
Water and Wastewater Theme

In our textile process we have a wastewater treatment plant, which allows us to reuse a considerable part of the water and in turn clean what we discard, resulting in significant savings in drinking water.

It is a biological process with European technology that allows us to clean the water with the highest international standards.

Energy Theme

We have a Co-Generation Plant for Electric Power and Steam through Natural Gas.

Since 2018, we have the energy cogeneration process, which allows us to generate 80% of electrical energy and 40% of steam that we consume within the facilities.

Water footprint

The Water Risk Filter aqueduct tool is used to perform evaluations and monitoring, which guarantees us to stay below the allowed standards of risks related to water.

Carbon footprint

In the process of generating the calculations to obtain the carbon footprint, we have the main indicator of greenhouse gas emissions:

9.4 million CO2e

Absolute total

1.812e + 0 CO2e / unit

Normalized total

Use of restricted substances

Within the strategy for the use of chemicals and dyes, an indicator has been defined that allows us to know the number of products that we use within the process and that comply with the LSRF (list of restricted substances in manufacturing).

The progress that is made as of May 2021 in the validation of compliance with the LSRF (List of restricted substances in manufacturing) is 70%.

Waste

Our textile plant has an evaluation of the international Higg Index standards.

We have special and hazardous waste minimization programs, endorsed by the competent authorities of the different plants, which are renewed every year with the environmental license.

In the case of hazardous waste, all plants are categorized as small generators, which means that we do not generate more than 10 tons per year. This according to the SEMARNAT criteria.
